Pitar Jose Aguilar

Sculptor, Baja California Sur

Pitar is a Mexican sculptor and industrial designer whose work explores structure, balance, and material presence. Trained in industrial design, he approaches sculpture with an architectural sensibility, considering proportion, weight, and spatial tension as fundamental elements of each piece.

While many of his works originate from the study of natural forms, his focus extends beyond representation. Through reduction and geometric refinement, he distills complex subjects into essential volumes that emphasize posture, gravity, and equilibrium. The result is a body of work that feels both grounded and intentional.

Having lived in Jackson Hole and now based in Baja California Sur, Pitar’s practice reflects a dialogue between landscape and structure, mountain and desert, density and openness. These environments inform not only his subject matter, but also the scale and presence of his sculptures.

Working primarily in bronze and volcanic stone, he embraces materials that carry permanence, texture, and mass. Each sculpture is produced in limited editions and conceived as an object meant to hold space with clarity and quiet strength, whether in contemporary architecture or in natural settings.
