August 15th – September 15th, 2025
Milk Moon is pleased to present Layer Cake, a group show featuring work by Julia Lucey, Melissa Loop, Sheila Giolitti, and Jodie Fletcher. While each artist brings their own conceptual point of view alongside their work, as a whole, Layer Cake is a celebration of playful indulgence – in color, texture, and the lush environs we allow ourselves to escape to when we daydream.
Printmaker Julia Lucey creates multiple editions of her exquisitely detailed aquatint etchings, which she then cuts and recombines into colorful, visually dense collages that circumvent the limitations of monochromatic printing.
Mixed media artist Sheila Giolitti crafts mesmerizing abstracts with ink, acrylic, and pigment, layer by layer, in clear resin. Creating a record of both mark-making and time, her expansive, meandering works explore her fascination with quantum physics and the interconnectedness of matter and consciousness.
Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, painter Melissa Loop's lush works on canvas are largely inspired by her international travels and the complex intersections of memory, authenticity, and the inescapable pitfalls of cultural tourism.
Through years of experimentation, Canadian mixed media artist Jodie Fletcher developed a modern take on traditional weaving, using maple frames and painted strips of canvas in an endless exploration of color theory and physicality.
Layer Cake will run from August 15th – September 15th, with a mid-exhibition reception from 5-8pm during the August 4th Art Walk. You can stop by and see the show anytime during our daily hours of 10am – 6pm.
